The Heimdall
The Heimdall
When we created the Bifrost, we wanted a pen to pair with it. Running on the norse theme (mythology being a hobby of mine), I set out in collaboration with our friends at Diamondcast to create a pen big enough and bold enough to pair with our "rainbow bridge" pen. Taking hints from mythology and current popular culture, we created this silver, bronze, and black beauty.
This is a rather large pen. The cap is approximately 18mm in diameter, the body 16mm at its widest point, and the section about 15mm at its widest. This pen works very well with a bock #8 titanium nib, but can also be paired with a standard steel #6.
From the Encyclopedia Britannica:
Heimdall, Old Norse Heimdallr, in Norse mythology, the watchman of the gods. Called the shining god and whitest skinned of the gods, Heimdall dwelt at the entry to Asgard, where he guarded Bifrost, the rainbow bridge. He required less sleep than a bird, could see 100 leagues, and could hear grass growing in the meadows and wool growing on sheep. Heimdall kept the “ringing” horn, Gjallarhorn, which could be heard throughout heaven, earth, and the lower world; it was believed that he would sound the horn to summon the gods when their enemies, the giants, drew near at the Ragnarök, the end of the world of gods and men. When that time came, Heimdall and his enemy Loki would slay each other.

Great pen. Love the size. Great Writer. Quality!!
It is the smoothest writer I have ever had in my hands.
I have recommended it to a fellow fountain pen user and collector, and told him that in my opinion it is a work of art as well as a fountain pen.
Absolutely stunning pen. It is a little large but I have large hands so that helps. The nib is amazingly smooth and they even sent a sample of anderillium ink. I fell in love with the ink and pen combination so I bought more of the anderillium ink and I highly recommend their inks. But if you want a custom pen that’s absolutely beautiful and unique, this is the pen for you. I can say with certainty that it will never leave my collection.
I have the #8 titanium nib. It is a much different writing experience than a #6 steel or gold nib. My nib has also been ground to a cursive italic and set up quite wet. The paring with this size body and section is great. As others have pointed out the pen is a nice balance of understated material with an impressive presence.
I recently bought a Heimdall and I can't express enough good thoughts about this pen. First its large yet relatively lightweight and well-balanced. I opted for a large titanium nib which I am also thoroughly enjoying. This pen is a lovely writer. Its also a wonderfully understated piece with an impressive presence.
